It is with sadness that the Leigh Sailing Club reports the death of Past Commodore John Huntley. John was Commodore 1980-81.

He will be remembered for sailing his Sea King 23, SK16, called Kestrel in the 1970s and 80s.

John took great pleasure in cruising the East Coast rivers with family and friends. Memories of him are as a convivial and genial host, sporting his usual cigar.

A strong swimmer, John once dived overboard to free Windsong’s centreplate which was hanging by a steel cable when the fixing pin failed.

John died on Sunday 26th November. The Leigh Sailing Club sends condolences to family and friends.
