The 2016 season has seen some mixed turn outs, the Solo fleet has generally made up the biggest single class although the mixed handicap with Enterprises, RS200's and a GP14 along with the Lasers from the Essex has seen some good numbers. The open meetings held at Leigh included for the first time ever races for the Enterprise class, racing with the GP14s saw some keen racing within the mixed fleets.  The Solo open attracted 27 boats with excellent racing conditions, visitors filled the first seven places, Matt Tothill was the first Leigh helm in eighth place.

The Interclub Team race was well supported by the Leigh members, but although racing on own water with the race run by Benfleet YC we were unable to win any of the trophies, there's always next year! Old Leigh Regatta was one breezy day with only a few boats keen enough to race and one day with light winds and a good turn out with 29 boats.  The first race on Sunday was our Barts Bash charity race won by Matt Tothill and we raised £134 for the Andrew "Bart" Simpson charity.

The Autumn series runs till the end of October to be followed by the Winter Series through November to 17th December.  The annual end of the season race The Brass Monkey Race is to be sailed on Sunday 18th December, a great way to prepare for Christmas Day a week later, so get your Christmas shopping done early and come sailing on the 18th!.
